You receive a false positive Firewall service error message on your ISA Server 2004 computer

Symptoms

On your Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 computer, you receive the following error message for Firewall:
Service not responding.
You receive the error message in the list of alerts when you click Monitoring in the ISA Server Management console and then click the Alerts tab. If you click the line that contains the error message, the following description appears in the Alert Information section:
Description: Due to an unexpected error, the service fwsrv stopped responding to all requests. Try to stop the service or kill the corresponding process if it does not respond, and start it again. Check the Event Viewer for related error messages.
You receive this error message even when Firewall appears to be working correctly.

Cause

This behavior may occur if ISA Server Control does not receive a keep-alive message from Firewall within the specified time-out. ISA Server Control may not receive a keep-alive message within the specified time-out if the computer is performing CPU-intensive operations.

When the ISA Server computer performs CPU-intensive operations, the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section may be triggered as a false positive.
