Symptoms

When you send several messages in Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, some of the messages are not delivered. Additionally, the following events are logged in the Application log:

    Description: Message delivery is being attempted. Internet Msg Id:ID, Submit Time: 03/16/2004 17:30:01.0000000, Recipient:/o=PlankyOrg/ou=First Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=username, MDB:First Storage Group\Mailbox Store (Computername).   • Event Type: Information
    Event Source: MSExchangeIS Mailbox Store
    Event Category: Transport Delivering
    Event ID: 9651

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
To enable this hotfix for the mailbox store, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersPrivate
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  4. Type Disable Duplicate Detection Over 255 bytes for the name of this registry entry, and then press ENTER.
  5. Right-click Disable Duplicate Detection Over 255 bytes, and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
  7. Quit Registry Editor.
To enable this hotfix for the public folder store, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
