Hnetmon.dll does not appear in the Netsh helper list for Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition

Symptoms

After you type Netsh show helper at the command prompt, the Hnetmon.dll Netsh helper .dll file does not appear in the Netsh helper list for Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition.

Workaround

To work around this behavior, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. At the command prompt, type Netsh add helper Hnetmon.dll, and then press ENTER.

    Note If the Hnetmon.dll file does not appear in the Netsh helper list, you may not be able to configure a bridged adapter to the promiscuous mode. To view the Netsh helper list, type Netsh show helper at the command prompt.
