When you click the
Advanced tab of the
Cache Settings dialog box in the ISA Server Management utility, the following option appears:
Percentage of free memory to use for caching
This option seems to indicate the amount of
available memory that ISA Server 2004 uses for caching. However, this option actually indicates the amount of
physical memory that ISA Server 2004 uses for caching. A better or a more descriptive name for this option might be
Percentage of physical memory to use for caching. This memory is allocated during the startup of the Microsoft Firewall service. Changes to this setting only take effect when you restart the Microsoft Firewall service.
To view the options that are on the
Advanced tab of the
Cache Settings dialog box, follow these steps:
- Start the ISA Server Management tool.
- Expand ServerName, where ServerName is the name of your ISA Server computer.
- Expand Configuration, click Cache, click the Tasks tab, and then click Configure Cache Settings.
- Click the Advanced tab.
