Introduction

This article describes the default values for the AllowZeroLength field properties and for the Indexed field properties. When you create a new table in Microsoft Office Access, the default values for the AllowZeroLength field properties and for the Indexed field properties may differ from the default values in earlier versions of Access.

You can you create a table with a field that contains any one of the following data types in an Access database:
  • Text
  • Memo
  • Hyperlink
Note The default values for the AllowZeroLength field properties and for the Indexed field properties may differ from the default values of the field properties in Access 2000.

The following table describes the default values of the field properties that correspond to the specified fields in the different versions of Access:

You must make sure that when you create a table in an Access database that you explicitly set the values of the AllowZeroLength field properties and of the Indexed field properties so that these field properties correspond to the Text data type, to the Memo data type, or to the Hyperlink data type.
