Introduction

This article describes the files and the service packs that you have to have so that you can use a Microsoft Office Access 2003 database under Microsoft Visual SourceSafe (VSS) control in Access 2003.

When you want to work with an Access 2003 database under Visual SourceSafe control in Access 2003, you have to have Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Access 2003 Source Code Control Add-in installed.

Note Visual SourceSafe 6.0 is not included as part of the Source Code Control Add-in download. You must already have VSS installed from another source. Other sources may include the following:
  • Microsoft Office XP Developer Edition
  • Microsoft Visual Studio
  • VSS as a stand-alone product

If you do not have Access 2003 Service Pack 1, linked tables may be replaced by local tables. This gives you a snapshot of your data at the time that the tables are imported. To correct this problem after you install Office 2003 Service Pack 1, note the tables that have to be linked, delete those local tables, and then create new links to the tables.
