This article contains information about the types of authentication that are available when you create a SOAP port in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004.

If you create a normal SOAP port in BizTalk Server 2004, the following four types of authentications are available:
  • Anonymous authentication
  • Basic authentication
  • NTLM authentication (NT LAN Manager or the formerly named Microsoft Windows NT Challenge/Response authentication)
  • Digest authentication
If you create a partner template in the Business Activity Services (BAS) layer of BizTalk Server 2004, the following two types of authentications are available:
  • Anonymous authentication
  • NTLM Authentication (NT LAN Manager or the formerly named Windows NT Challenge/Response authentication)
