You receive an error message if you try to sign a .cab file in Windows 2000 SP4 or in Windows Server 2003

Symptoms

If you use the SIGNCODE utility in Microsoft Visual Studio or the Microsoft .Net Framework Software Development Kit (SDK) to sign a .cab file for a program for a Windows Mobile-based Smartphone, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following error message:
Error 8007000b
Note You receive this error message if your operating system is Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 (SP4).

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
