Mobile Services options for a user are enabled after you disable Mobile Services options by using Exchange System Manager in Exchange 2003

Symptoms

When you view the properties of a new user account that you created by using the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in, you may find that the Mobile Services options on the Exchange Features tab are unexpectedly enabled.

Cause

This problem may occur after you do the following:
  1. You disable Mobile Services options in the Global Settings container of Exchange System Manager.
  2. You create a new user account and a mailbox for that new user account.
In this situation, the value of the msExchOmaAdminExtendedSettings attribute is not set when the mailbox is created.

Workaround

To work around this problem, disable the Mobile Services options of the user account. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Start the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in.
  2. Click Users.
  3. In the right pane, right-click the user account, and then click Properties.
  4. Click the Exchange Features tab.
  5. Under Mobile Services, click the options that you want to disable, and then click Disable.
  6. Click Apply, and then click OK.
