You Receive a “Microsoft Excel Cannot Open or Save Any More Documents" Error Message When You Open or Save an Excel File Through a Terminal Services Session


Symptoms

When you try to open or save a Microsoft Excel file through a Terminal Services session, you may receive the following error message:
Microsoft Excel cannot open or save any more documents because there is not enough available memory or disk space

Cause

This issue may occur if you install Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, and both of the following conditions are true:
  • The server is running Terminal Services in Application Server mode.
  • Microsoft Office 2000 is installed on the server.
