On screen display feature flickers when you try to left or right scroll in Excel

Symptoms

When you try to left scroll or right scroll in Microsoft Excel by using the tilt wheel on one of the devices that are listed in the "Applies to" section, the On Screen Display feature may flicker or occasionally disappear and reappear.

Cause

This issue may occur if you are using an outdated version of Microsoft IntelliType Pro 2.2. The horizontal scrolling feature requires Microsoft IntelliType Pro 5.0.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install IntelliType 5.0 by using the CD that came with your Microsoft device. To do this, follow these steps:
1.Put the Setup CD in your CDdrive.

If the Setup program starts automatically, follow the prompts to install IntelliType Pro 5.0.
2.If the Setup program does not start automatically, click Start, click My Computer, and then double-click your CDdrive.
3.Double-click Setup, and then follow the prompts to install IntelliType Pro 5.0.
To download the latest version of Microsoft IntelliPoint, follow these steps:
1.Start Microsoft Internet Explorer, and then visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/downloads/default.mspx
2.Click IntelliPoint mouse software.
3.In the Select your product list, click Wireless Optical Mouse.
4.In the Select your operating system list, click your operating system, click English if applicable in the Select your operating system language list, and then click Download Now.
5.In the File Download dialog box, click Open, and then follow the remaining instructions to install the program.
6.Restart the computer.
