The startup form or the startup page is displayed even if you press the shift key while you open a Microsoft Office 2003 Access Database or Project

If you open a Microsoft Office Access 2003 database while you press the shift key to suppress the startup form or the startup page in the Access 2003 database, the startup form or the startup page may be displayed if the Security Warning dialog box is displayed.

This behavior may also occur if you open an Access 2003 project while you press the shift key to suppress the startup form or the startup page in the Access 2003 database.

When you click Open in the Security Warning dialog box, you open an Access 2003 database that displays a Security Warning dialog box . Therefore, if you do not press the shift key while you click Open in the Security Warning dialog box, the startup form or the startup page may be displayed.

To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods:

• When you open an Access 2003 database or an Access 2003 project, hold down the shift key until the Database window is displayed.
• If the Security Warning dialog box is displayed when you open an Access 2003 database or an Access 2003 project, press the shift key while you click Open in the Security Warning dialog box.

In Access 2003, a Security Warning dialog box may be displayed when you try to open an Access 2003 database if either of the following two conditions is true:

• The security level is set to Medium, and your Access 2003 database does not have a digital signature.
• The security level is set to High, and your Access 2003 database has a digital signature. However, the digital signature is not in the trusted publishers list.
  
  Note The content of the Security Warning dialog box that is displayed varies based on the conditions. However, the option to cancel the Access 2003 database and the option to open the Access 2003 database are available.

If these conditions are not true and you press the shift key while you open the Access 2003 database, the Database window is directly displayed. The startup form or the startup page is not displayed. If these conditions are true and the Security Warning dialog box is displayed, follow the steps in the "Resolution" section of this article.
