You Cannot Delete a Group of E-Mail Messages by Selecting the Conversation Topic Header in Outlook Web Access

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

If you use Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) and select the By Conversation Topic view to view your e-mail messages on a Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 server, when you click a conversation topic header and then click Delete to delete all the messages that are contained in that conversation topic, the messages are not deleted.

Cause

This behavior occurs because OWA does not permit you to delete, to move, or to copy all the messages in a group of messages by selecting the header for that group of messages.

Workaround

To work around this behavior, use a MAPI-based e-mail client to view and to manage your e-mail messages. When you use a MAPI-based e-mail client such as Microsoft Outlook, you can delete, copy, or move all the messages in a group of messages by selecting the header for that group of messages.
