More information

In Exchange 5.5, each public folder can have administration access limited to its home site to control who can create replicas of a public folder. If the Limit administration access to home site check box is selected, only users who have administrative permissions in the home site of the public folder and who are connected to the home site can create replicas. This check box is located in the public folder's Properties dialog box, on the General tab. To find public folders that do not have the Limit administration access to home site check box selected, follow these steps:
  1. Start Microsoft Exchange Administrator.
  2. Expand your Site Name, expand Configuration, expand Servers, expand an Exchange Server Name in your site, and then click Public Information Store.
  3. On the File menu, click Properties.
  4. Click the Instances tab.
  5. In the Site list, click a site other than the site that you are currently connected to.

In the left column, under Public Folders, the folders that you see do not have the Limit administrative access to home site check box selected for the site that you selected.

Note If the public folders did have the Limit administrative access to home site check box selected, they would not be available to add as instances to your site, so they would not appear in the list.
  6. To find the list of public folders for your site that do not have the Limit administrative access to home site check box selected, you must use Exchange Administrator to connect to a different site and then repeat the process on an Exchange 5.5 computer that is in that site. Follow these same steps, except in step 5, click your own site in the Site list.
