Text Appears Too Large and Does Not Fit on the Screen During Mini-Setup

Symptoms

If you start a Windows Server 2003-based computer that has the Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI) preinstalled, when the Mini-Setup Wizard starts, text that is displayed on the screen appears too large, and some of the objects on the screen are only partly visible.

Cause

This issue may occur if both of the following conditions are true:
  • The MUI for any of the following languages is installed:
    • Chinese (Simplified), CHS
    • Chinese (Traditional), CHT
    • Japanese, JPN
    • Korean, KOR
  • Sysprep.exe has been run in reseal mode to prepare it for its first use.
If both of the conditions are true, some of the fonts that the program must have to display text labels correctly during Mini-Setup are not loaded.

Resolution

Hotfix Information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.
