Internet Mail Wizard Displays the IP Address 0.0.0.0 When a Network Adapter Is Disabled

Symptoms

When you run Internet Mail Wizard on a server that has two network adapters that use static IP addresses on separate subnets, on the Create two SMTP virtual servers page, you may find that the IP Address of one of the network adapters that is installed on the server is shown as 0.0.0.0.

Cause

This behavior occurs when you run Internet Mail Wizard and either of the following conditions are true:
  • A network adapter is disabled.
  • A network cable is disconnected.

Resolution

Make sure that all network adapters are enabled and are functioning correctly before you run Internet Mail Wizard.
