Updated File Download Dialog Box Displays Additional Information When You Download Files

The File Download dialog box in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 1 and later has been updated. When you download a file, the File Download dialog box displays additional information about the file.

The File Download dialog box has been updated to include the following information:

• The file type.
• A warning for potentially unsafe files that explains that the file could harm your computer if it contains malicious code (for example, a virus).

When you download a file in Internet Explorer, you may receive one of two different File Download dialog boxes. The specific File Download dialog box that you receive is determined by whether the file type you are downloading is potentially unsafe. A file is considered potentially unsafe if any of the following are true:
