Symptoms

When you type a "Kanji + dakuon/handakuon" string in a field that uses the Furigana property, and then overwrite the string or delete the string, you may receive the following error message:
There isn't enough memory to perform this operation. Close unneeded programs and try the operation again.

After you receive this error message, Microsoft Access may abruptly quit.

Cause

This problem may occur if you delete data or you overwrite data that includes the Kanji characters and the Seion characters (an unvoiced consonant) followed by the Dakuten characters or the Handakuten characters. An incorrect handling of the Dakuten characters and the Handakuten characters (Japanese voiced sound mark) by the Furigana property in Microsoft Access causes this problem.
