View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

When you open a message that contains an embedded message by using Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) over a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connection, if you try to save the embedded message to the local hard disk, you receive the following error message:

The file could not be written to the cache.
For example, if you right-click the link to the embedded message, and then click Save, you receive the error message.

Workaround

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods:

Method 1: Have the Embedded Message Re-Sent As an Attachment

Ask the sender of the message to resend the message and to include the embedded message as an attachment. Then save the message attachment to your local hard disk. This issue does not occur when you save a message attachment.

Method 2: Turn On the "Do Not Save Encrypted Pages to Disk" Option

Turn on the Do not save encrypted pages to disk option in Internet Explorer. To do so:
  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  3. Click the Advanced tab, and then under Security, click to select the Do not save encrypted pages to disk check box .
  4. Click Apply, and then click OK.
