Running Exchange 2000 FORESTPREP After You Run Exchange 2003 FORESTPREP Allows You to Install Exchange 2000 but Creates a GUID for the Organization Name

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

After you prepare your Microsoft Active Directory directory service domain for an Exchange Server 2003 installation by using the /forestprep and /domainprep commands you can successfully run the Exchange 2000 /forestprep and /domainprepcommands on the same domain. You are then able to install Exchange 2000 on a domain controller, but you are not prompted to join an existing site or to create a new site. A new organization name in the form of a globally unique identifier (GUID) is automatically assigned to the new organization.
