View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

When you install SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3), SQL Server deploys version 2000.80.380.0 of the Sqlunirl.dll file. Version 2000.80.380.0 is part of Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.7 Service Pack 1 (SP1). The correct version (2000.80.728.0) of Sqlunirl.dll, is not deployed by SQL Server 2000 SP3.

Resolution

  • Method 2: Install SQL Server 2000 SP3a.

Note You cannot use Method 1 on computers that are running Microsoft Windows XP. On computers that are running Windows XP, you must use Method 2 to correct the problem that this article describes. For more information, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

More information

The SQL Server 2000 SP3 redistribution package includes version 2000.80.728.0 of the Sqlunirl.dll file. However, the SQL Server 2000 SP3 installations incorrectly ignore this file during installation. Therefore, this file is not updated on your computer. The correct version of this file is located in the X86\System folder of the expanded service pack redistribution.
