Symptoms

When you run Microsoft SQL Server Notification Services 2.0 Setup on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer, you may receive the following error message after you select the components that you want to install, and then click Next on the Custom Setup page:
The Engine Components and Client Components features require Microsoft .Net Framework. Install the Microsoft .Net Framework and run setup again to install these features

Cause

This problem occurs when SQL Server Notification Services 2.0 Setup incorrectly detects the version of .NET Framework that is installed on the computer.
