ACC2000: Package and Deployment Wizard Cannot Locate Access Run-Time Components Automatically

Symptoms

When you run the Package and Deployment wizard and then select Include Access Runtime, you may receive the following error message:

The Access Runtime files could not be automatically located. Please insert your Microsoft Office 2000 Developer media and browse to the Access Runtime Folder.

To avoid this message in the future, you can copy the entire contents of the Access Runtime folder to the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\ODETools\V9\Runtime\ folder.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, copy the Access run-time files to your computer.

To copy the Access run-time files, follow these steps:
1.Run the Package and Deployment wizard. When you receive the message in the "Symptoms" section, click OK.
2.In the Locate Data1.msi dialog box, locate the \ODE Tools\v9\AccessRT folder on the Office 2000 Developer CD.
3.Select the Data1.msi file and then click Open.

More information

This problem occurs only the first time that you select Include Access Runtime to include the Access run-time files in the Package and Deployment wizard.

Steps to Reproduce the Problem

1.Run Access.
2.Open the Northwind sample database.
3.Press ALT+F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor.
4. If the Package and Deployment Wizard appears on the Add-ins menu, you must go to step 7.
5.Click the Add-in Manager.
6.In the Available Add-ins list, click VBA Package and Deployment Wizard.
7.Under Load Behavior, click the Loaded/Unloaded check box and then click OK.
8.On the Add-ins menu, click Package and Deployment Wizard.
9.In the Package and Deployment Wizard dialog box, click Package.
10.Click Next and then continue to accept the defaults until you see the Package and Deployment Wizard - Included Files page.
11.Click the Include Access Runtime check box.

Notice that as soon as you click the Include Access Runtime check box, you receive the error message in the "Symptoms" section.
