When you edit a Word document that causes Word to repaginate the document, Word may never complete the repagination. Also, Word may appear to stop responding (hang). If you press ESC to stop the repagination, you receive the following informational message: If you click No, the repagination process stops, and then Word switches to Normal view. However, if you switch back to Print Layout view, the repagination process continues endlessly. This symptom may occur if all the following conditions are true:
- The document contains nested tables.
- The nested tables are formatted with wrapping text.
- The document contains more than 10 pages.
- You view the document in Print Layout view.
- The document contains nested tables in the header or in the footer.
- The nested tables in the header or in the footer are formatted with wrapping text.
- The document contains a NUMPAGES field in the header or in the footer.
- Track Changes is turned on.
- The document contains more than 10 pages.
- You view the document in Print Layout view.
