Problems When the Data Frame Ends with CRLF.CRLF QUIT CRLF

You may experience a problem when Exchange 2000 receives a message over the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) and the message ends the data frame with: Exchange server responds to the pipelined QUIT command with �500 5.3.3 Unrecognized Command.� Exchange server responds with a 250 in response to the CRLF.CRLF, and then responds with �500 5.3.3 Unrecognized Command� in response to the QUIT command. The same behavior occurs with other pipelined commands such as RSET.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
