XADM: Microsoft Search Service Leaves .xls Files in systemroot\Temp\Gthrsvc

Symptoms



When you use the Full-Text Indexing service (to index Mailbox and Public Stores), the Microsoft Search service uses the systemroot\Temp\Gthrsvc folder for temporary file operations. During the search, files with file extensions such as .xls, .doc, and .ppt may be written to this folder, and then deleted. (This is the expected behavior).

However, certain Microsoft Excel spreadsheets (.xls files) may be left behind in the systemroot\Temp\Gthrsvc folder.
