HTML or Text File with Long Lines Causes Problems in Internet Explorer

When you look through text or HTML page that contains long lines, Internet Explorer may stop responding (hang).

Resolution

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Internet Explorer 5.5 service pack that contains this fix.

Important This hotfix includes a later version of Mshtml.dll than is included with the MS03-004: February, 2003 Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer (810847). If you plan to install the MS03-004: February, 2003 Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer (810847), you must install 810847 before you install this fix. If you installed this fix before you installed the MS03-004: February, 2003 Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer (810847), you must reinstall this fix. Notice that the MS03-020 June, 2003, Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer (818529) includes a later version of Mshtml.dll that is included with this hotfix. As a result, the MS03-020 June, 2003, Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer (818529) includes this hotfix, and you can install 818529 instead of this hotfix.

The English version of this fix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.
