Symptoms

When you try to open any event in the Event Viewer Application Log in Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows 2003, you receive the following error message:

Cause

This problem may occur if you have the Symbols for Dr. Watson Error Debugging installed. The error message is caused by a problem with the Dr. Watson Error Debugging program.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
