SCSI disks are disconnected in the child partition of Hyper-V

Summary

When you attach SCSI disk to a guest operating system such as Windows Server 2003, when you reboot : the SCSI disk unit appears disconnected. You have to reactivate it in order to use it.

Symptoms

If the disk type in the�virtual machine�system is dynamic, the disk�appears to be�disconnected after a reboot of the virtual machine. It does not happens with basic disks.
Here, dynamic does not refer to the size (Pass-through, Fixed, Dynamic,�Delta)�but to the type of disk inside the guest operating system.

Resolution

You should use basic disk in the virtual machine to avoid this problem.
During the importation of a disk, you should not convert it to dynamic. If your disk type is set to dynamic, you may have to backup all data, remove volumes and convert it to basic disk using diskmgmt.msc or diskpart.exe.
