Summary

All Exchange features are disabled on Active Directory Users and Computers when you try to change some attributes.

Symptoms

When�you try to change some exchange attributes in Active Directory Uses and Computers, you receive all Exchange tabs on disabled state and you can't change any of their values.

Cause

This error may occur because the user attribute homeMDB is value was set as <not set>.

Resolution

There are two ways to resolve the problem, follow both methods:

Method 1: Change value of homeMDB attribute of affected user
  1. Open ADSIEdit.msc
    ADSIEdit.msc is avaiable in support tools found in the support subdirectory on the Operation System cd.
  2. In the Domain section, expand your domain
  3. Find the affected user and right click on it
  4. Select the homeMDB attribute and click Edit
  5. Fill out the text box with a valid path, like CN=<Mailbox Store (Server)>,CN=First Storage Group,CN=InformationStore,CN=<Server>,CN=Servers,CN=<First Administrative Group>,CN=Administrative Groups,CN=<Organization>,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=<domain>,DC=<com>


Method 2: Reconnect mailbox
  1. Open�Active Directory Users and Computers, right click on affected user then click Exchange Tasks�
  2. Mark Remove Exchange Attributes and click Next, Next and Finish
  3. Open Exchange System Manager
  4. Expand Administrative Groups
  5. Expand <Administrative Group>
  6. Expand Servers
  7. Expand <Server>
  8. Expand <Storage Group>
  9. Expand <Mailbox Store>
  10. Right click on Mailboxes and click Run Cleanup Agent
  11. On the right frame, right click on the affected user and then click Reconnect and associate again to the user used in step 1
