Exchange Information Store fails to start & You see the following event in Application Log on Exchange 2003 Server;

Description:
Information Store (4360) First Storage Group: An attempt to write to the file "D:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\mdbdata\res2.log" at offset 4194304 (0x0000000000400000) for 1048576 (0x00100000) bytes failed after 0 seconds with system error 112 (0x00000070): "There is not enough space on the disk.".� The write operation will fail with error -1808 (0xfffff8f0).� If this error persists then the file may be damaged and may need to be restored from a previous backup.

Cause

Error 0x00000070 means ERROR_DISK_FULL
Error 0xfffff8f0 means JET_errDiskFull

This problem can be caused by low disk space on the Exchange Information Store Drive as stated in the event description.

Resolution

Free-up disk spaces on the Exchange Information Store Drive as stated in the event description�and then restart the Exchange System Attendant to resolve the issue.
