Symptoms

When you try to apply Exchange 2003 Server Service Pack 1�to an Exchange 2003 Server, you may receive the following error message:

Cause

The reason why this error message appears is typically because the Exchange 2003 Server previously was in-place upgraded from Exchange Server 2000.

Resolution

This issue can in most cases be resolved by following the below steps:

- Log on to the respective Exchange 2003 Server
- Click Start > Run and type Regedit
- Drill down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mi�crosoft\Microsoft Integration
- Delete the key: 13F9F3AF-9463-4492�-854A-191CCC441FDB
- Run the Exchange 2003 Server service Pack 1 installation wizard again
