Warning message when installing Exchange 2003 Service Pack 1 on Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1

Symptoms

When you install Exchange 2003 Service Pack 1 on a non-clustered Windows 2003 Service Pack 1 Server�already running�Exchange 2003 Server or install Exchange 2003 with integrated Service Pack 1 on a clean non-clustered Windows 2003 Server with Service Pack 1 applied, the below warning message appears:

Exchange Server 2003 has a known compatibility issue with this version of Windows. For more information, refer to�http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=37488.

Resolution

Although there are several issues (read info�in the More Information section further down) to be aware of when dealing with Windows 2003 Server Service Pack 1 on Exchange 2003 Service Pack 1 Servers, you can simply ignore this Warning Message and click Continue.

Exchange 2003 was not installed by using the default installation path and SCW has been configured:
After you run the Security Configuration Wizard in Windows Server 2003 SP1, Outlook users may not be able to connect to their accounts: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=896742

Exchange 2003 back-end clusters needs an update when Windows 2003 Service Pack 1 is applied:
"500 - Internal server error" error message when a user tries to access a clustered Exchange Server 2003 back-end server by using Outlook Web Access: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841561

Small Business Server (SBS) 2003 users should wait for SBS 2003 Service Pack 1:
