Outlook Web Access and Small Business Server Remote Web Workplace do not function if XP Service Pack 2 Add-on Blocking is enabled via group policy

SYMPTOMS

Outlook Web Access displays the "Loading" message and does not continue any further.   SBS2003 Remote Web Workplace does not function correctly.

CAUSE

A group policy that has enabled blocking of IE Add-ons is stopping unlisted ActiveX components.  A link to information on how this policy is enabled can be found in the more information section below.

RESOLUTION

Ask the network Administrator to add the following unlisted GUID's to the exclusion list on the Group policy.

Please note that editing XPSP2 Group policy settings requires that you install the ADM Files for XPSP2 on your server, or edit from a XPSP2 Client machine on your domain.

Once these are installed (or indeed you are editing directly from a XPSP2 Machine), the location in Group Policy for the Add-on controls of Internet Explorer can be found in: Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Security Features\Add-on Management
