You cannot install Hotfix 831464 which is required in order to install Exchange 2003 Service Pack 1

When trying to install Hotfix 831464 (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=831464�) which is required before Exchange 2003 Service Pack 1 can be installed, you get the following error message:

The data is invalid

To work around this behavior, use the following method:
�
1. Click Start | Run type SIGVERIF then press Enter
2. Click Advanced�and put the radio button in Look for other files that are not digitally signed
3. In the Look in this folder box�type: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CATROOT
4. Checkmark Include Subfolders
5. Click OK, then click Start

You will now get a window with�any files that are not signed.

6. Open Explorer and navigate to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CATROOT and delete the files listed in the Signature Verification Results window.
7. Reboot the server and install the Hotfix 831464 (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=831464).
