How to enable an XP/2003 computer with Remote Desktop to be added to the browse list

Symptoms

Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP machines with Remote Desktop enabled do not advertise their existence in the browse list by defualt. You can force these machines to advertise themselves by changing�the "TSAdvertise" value in the � .registry

Resolution

To force a Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP machines to advertise themselves in the browse list

Perform the following on your computer:

1. Go to "Start" -> "Run" -> Write "Regedit" and press the "Enter" button.

2. Navigate to the following key:
���� HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal� Server

3. Add the following registry value: "TSAdvertise"
�����
����� Data type: REG_DWORD
����� Radix: Hexadecimal
����� Value: 1

Note: In Windows Server 2003, this registry key should be already present.�You� may need to change the�key value "TSAdvertise" from 0 to 1.

4. Quit Registry Editor

5. Restart the server
