Tips

How to Remove Previous versions of the .Net Framework before Installing Exchange Server 2003

The .Net Framework is required for Outlook Mobile Access (OMA) in Exchange Server 2003, as OMA is written in C#. Exchange Server 2003 Setup will remove previous versions of the .Net Framework prior to 1.1.4322. But you can remove them ahead of time to both make setup cleaner and also be sure they are not there.

Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open text box, type cmd, and then press ENTER.
At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
msiexec.exe /x {DF420000-A5AB-407C-92FF-D1D4B709B8F9}
Repeat using the following GUIDs:
msiexec.exe /x {8542DFF7-5CAB-4424-AAF7-BFEB3104D8AC}
msiexec.exe /x {C9913503-1500-4454-94CD-365ADC1BB9B9}

You can ignore any error messages that state that the product is not installed.
You can also run these commands with a /q at the end for quiet mode, so you do not have to acknowledge any prompts.
