Process handle exhaustion when enabling EnableDelayPostingOfDeferredCOMEvents in Skype for Business 2016

Symptoms

After you enable the EnableDelayPostingOfDeferredCOMEvents option for Microsoft Skype for Business 2016, you notice that the process handle count for Lync.exe increases until the client crashes.

Cause

A thread handle is not correctly closed when it is finished. This causes a handle leak.

Resolution

To fix this issue, install the July 7, 2020, update (KB4484326) for Microsoft Skype for Business 2016.
