MSExchangeDelivery.exe or EdgeTransport.exe crashes in Exchange Server 2013 and Exchange Server 2010

When you receive an email message that contains non-RFC compliant characters in the To field, MSExchangeDelivery.exe crashes in Exchange Server 2013 and EdgeTransport.exe crashes in Exchange Server 2010.

This issue occurs if both the following conditions are true:

• You have KB 4509409 (Description of the security update for Microsoft Exchange Server 2013: July 9, 2019) installed in Exchange Server 2013, or KB 4509410 (Description of the security update for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010: July 9, 2019) installed in Exchange Server 2010.

• The email message To field contains a non-RFC compliant character, such as a dash "–".

To fix this issue, install the following security updates, as appropriate:

• Description of the security update for Microsoft Exchange Server 2013: February 11, 2020

• Description of the security update for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010: February 11, 2020
