"OK" button does not work in "LAN settings" after GPO is applied to change WinHttpAutoProxySvc startup type

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You configure the WinHttp Web proxy Auto-Discovery Service (WinHttpAutoProxySvc) startup type to Automatic or Manual by using a Group Policy Object (GPO).
  • You open inetcpl.cpl > Connections.
  • In the Internet Properties dialog box, you select LAN settings.
  • You clear the Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections) check box.
  • You enter the address of the proxy servers.

In this scenario, nothing occurs when you select OK. Only the Cancel button works.
