As registration in the Microsoft Partner Network is linked to the Company’s work domain if the same domain is used internationally (i.e. PartnerName.com) then all locations will need to be set up under ONE MPNHQ
If there are different email domains in use (e.g. PartnerName.co.uk, PartnerName.fr, PartnerName.ca etc.) then it may be possible to create separate MPN HQs for each or to set them all up under one HQ with separate locations. Depending on how the domains were set up they may use the same AAD (Azure Active Directory, e.g. for your Office 365 subscription) even if they are a different domain in which case they will work as if they are the same domain. If not and you wish to enable "multi-domain" access, please contact MPN Support for instructions.
If there is an existing MPN for your company, based on your work domain or Office365 subscription you will be assigned as a user under that HQ. Separate countries can be set up with unique MPNIDs under the HQ using the Locations option described below. In order to get the required role you will need to co-ordinate with the MPNAdmin or Global Admin for the HQ.
You can find out who is by going to View Users
Filter for the MPNAdmin or Global Admin to find out who you need to contact to ask them to assign you the appropriate Incentives role
Alternatively, by clicking Partner Account to view the Partner Profile you will be able to identify the Primary Contact for the HQ and work with them to have your location set up with its own MPN LocationID. If this is not clear please contact support through the different contact options at https://partner.microsoft.com/support
As registration in the Microsoft Partner Network is linked to the Company’s work domain if the same domain is used internationally (i.e. PartnerName.com) then all locations will need to be set up under ONE MPNHQ which will require co-ordination with the overall Admin(s) for that MPN ID. It is very easy to add a new location. Note only one of the Admin roles can add a location under Partner Profile. They just need to click Add Location, give the location the appropriate name, ie PartnerName, Country and fill in the fields including a contact name for that location.
Example: PartnerName.com has MPNHQ ID of 123456. The HQ is in the US so that is also the location ID for the US. Additionally, it has a location ID of 123458 for Canada, 123459 for Germany and 123465 for Singapore.
Yes, incentive payments will be made per location under the HQ. Each location can have a different bank account. Multiple bank accounts or payment profiles can be set up for any location, if they want Retail payments to go to one account and say Managed Reseller payments to another account.
Each location can have its own MPN Admin to make it easier to manage users locally. That MPN Admin can then assign an Incentives Admin to manage bank details for their location and Incentives Users who can view reports of payments etc but cannot view or edit bank details.
By clicking Partner Account to view the Partner Profile you will be able to identify the Primary Contact for that MPNID and work with them to have your location set up with its own MPN LocationID. Alternatively, you can click “View Users” to see if there is already an MPNAdmin set up for your location. If this is not clear please contact support through the different contact options at https://partner.microsoft.com/support
If when creating your MPN ID, the country defaults (and cannot be changed) to a value NOT your own country this is due to a sister / parent company having an existing Microsoft account in Azure Active Directory (AAD) or an incorrect setting when the AAD was created.
Recommended options:
- If the country is the HQ of your organization then enter the address details for the HQ
- If the country is not your location or your HQ location proceed to create the account to get your MPNID and then contact MPNSupport (https://partner.microsoft.com/support ) to get the country changed.
