Windows To Go is no longer being developed. This feature in the Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education editions enables the creation of a Windows To Go workspace that can be started from a USB-connected external drive on PCs. The Windows functionality that enables the creation of such USB external drives will be deprecated in Windows 10, version 1903. In the future, the feature will be removed.
WTG does not support feature updates. Therefore, it does not enable you to stay current. Additionally, WTG requires a specific type of USB drive that many OEMs no longer support.
Any WTG workspace that was created by using a previous version of Windows will be supported until End of Service of the respective version of Windows, as specified in the support lifecycle policy for that version. This policy includes WTG drives that were created by using Windows 10 Enterprise 2019 LTSC. For more information about the lifecycle policy for a specific version of Windows, see Search product lifecycle.
