Improvements and fixes

This update includes the following improvement and fixes:
  • You can now use Printer dots per inch (DPI) while pasting Windows Metafile (WMF) or Enhanced MetaFile (EMF) to improve the spaces between texts. This update enables this improvement by default. To disable this improvement, set the EnableMetafileReferenceDevice registry key to 0 in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common location.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You have a VSTO Add-in that calls ApplicationFactory.GetVstoObject.
    • You add a shape to a workbook and save the workbook as .zip format.
    • You add a noSelect property through setting <a:spLocks noSelect="1" /> in a drawing xml file.
    • You load the add-in in Excel, and then open the workbook.
           In this situation, Excel crashes.
  • Visio files that have Enhanced MetaFile (EMF) graphics look blocky and blurry when they are printed. This issue occurs when the EMF graphics are cropped to fit on the Visio file.
This update fixes this issue. To disable this fix, set the following registry keys in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Gfx location:
    • UseAutomaticAxisAlignedRectangleOptimizations: set its value to 0.
    • FixAxisAlignedClip: set its value to 0.
  • When you paste a shape as Enhanced MetaFile (EMF), the top, bottom, or sides of the EMF are cropped.
  • Fixes an issue that the formatting of text is lost when you copy formatted text from Excel to PowerPoint.
  • Fixes an issue that PowerPoint 2016 crashes when you delete the node with pressing backspace twice for several times in the Segmented Process SmartArt.
