An update for Japan to support Japanese Calendar Era Change for Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations

After installing this update, .NET and the Windows Registry will be utilized for era determination in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations. Apart from that, it introduces support for Gannen that uses OS APIs for date formatting. All previously existing product-specific parsing of OS formatted dates or manipulating the year value were eliminated.

There is no additional setup or configuration required in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations to enable that behavior. The only condition is to have the OS with newest .NET and Windows updates addressing and adding new Japanese calendar and era.

Here is the list of features where behavior was changed in comparison to the previous experience.

Generate and receive payment - EFT with JBA format

The specific presentation of dates in payment files formatted according to JBA standard does not indicate the era. After applying this update, the user session date will determine which era will be used during the payment import process. The start and end dates for eras are determined based on the OS.

Consumption Tax Declaration

The set of dates that are auto-populated in the report will remain the same if the start and end dates are within the same era. In case they are not, the dates to be filled in by users will not have an era indicator.

How to obtain the updates

The updates are available for download and installation:

·        Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, April'19 release (v.10.0)

Important note: Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations version 10.0.1 and higher contain this update out of the box. The support for OS date formatting was enabled starting from version 8.1.3 but it does not include support for Gannen.

Prerequisites

You must have one of the following products installed to apply this hotfix:

• Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Enterprise edition 7.3
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, April'19 release (v.10.0)
  

Restart requirement

You must restart the Application Object Server (AOS) service after you apply the hotfix.
