Quality and reliability improvements

CLR1

  • Fixes an issue that occurs when many processes that use the workstation garbage collection (GC) are running on the same system. In this situation, you may experience high CPU usage. After you apply this fix, the GC no longer calls VirtualAlloc when it runs under workstation GC mode.

SqlClient2

  • Provides an AppContext flag for making the default value of TransparentNetworkIPResolution false in SqlClient connection strings.
WCF3
  • Fixes a System.AccessViolationException that occurs when accessing a disposed X509Certificate2 instance in a rare race condition. The fix defers the service certificate cleanup to GC. The affected scenario is WCF NetTcp bindings using reliable sessions with certificate authentication. Customer can opt in to the fix by adding the follow AppSetting to the configuration file. Without setting AppSetting to true, existing services won’t be affected by this code change.

    <appSettings>
      <add key="wcf:deferSslStreamServerCertificateCleanup" value="true"/>
    </appSettings>

1 Common Language Runtime (CLR)
2 .NET Framework Data Provider for SQL Server (SqlClient)
3  Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)
