Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 will reach the end of its support lifecycle on July 9, 2019. After this date, there will be no new security updates, non-security updates, assisted support options (free or paid), or online technical content updates for Configuration Manager 2007. If you are using Configuration Manager 2007, we recommend that you plan to migrate to Configuration Manager (current branch) as soon as possible.
Forefront Endpoint Protection (FEP) 2010, which is often integrated with Configuration Manager 2007, will reach the end of its support lifecycle on the same day. If you are using FEP 2010, we recommend that you migrate to the current version of System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) or Windows Defender. Microsoft plans to discontinue definition, engine, and platform updates for FEP 2010 once the end of support is reached. This discontinuation may occur without any notice.
There is no in-place upgrade from Configuration Manager 2007 to Configuration Manager (current branch). Also, the Windows Server infrastructures that support Configuration Manager 2007 are Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2. And typically, the Microsoft SQL Server versions that are used are SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2. Considering this, it may require lots of planning and work to bring your infrastructure (Windows Server and SQL Server), and then Configuration Manager, up-to-date.
We recommend that you migrate to current product versions before support ends. This lets you take advantage of the latest product innovations and makes sure that you receive uninterrupted support from Microsoft.
