View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Assume that Windows 10 Professional for Education (ProEd) or Windows 10 Professional for Workstation (ProWS) is deployed on an OEM device, and the following conditions are true:

  1. Windows 10 image that is Professional, Professional for Education, or Professional for Workstation, with the appropriate default key, is installed.

  2. The Digital Product Key (DPK) that is used in the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) is for Professional for Education or Professional for Workstation.

In this scenario, the device is activated and incorrectly shows the channel as "RETAIL" instead of "OEM."
