FIX: Key sounds don't play if enabled via Sound applet on Windows Embedded Compact 2013 device

Introduction

This article describes an issue that causes key sounds to not be re-enabled through the Sound applet if the key sounds are disabled in the registry before the Windows Embedded Compact 2013 device is restarted.

An update is available to fix this issue. Before you install this update, all previously issued updates for this product must be installed.

Symptoms

You disable the key sounds through the registry on a Windows Embedded Compact 2013 device. When you try to re-enable the key sounds through the Sound applet, the key sounds do not play.

Note If you restart the device after you re-enable the key sounds through the Sound applet, the key sounds do play.

Prerequisites

This update is supported only if all previously issued updates for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you apply this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To do this, use one of the following methods:

  • On the Build menu, click Clean Solution, and then click Build Solution.
  • On the Build menu, click Rebuild Solution.

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.

Update replacement

This update does not replace any other updates.
