FIX: Access violation when connection thread accesses out-of-bounds array element in Windows Embedded Compact 7

Introduction

This article describes an issue in which an access violation occurs when a connection thread accesses an array element on a Windows Embedded Compact 7-based device. An update is available to resolve this issue. Before you install this update, all previously issued updates for this product must be installed.

Symptoms

Assume that you apply the Windows Embedded Compact 7 Monthly Update March 2017 (KB 4015674) on a Windows Embedded Compact 7-based device. When you try to establish a connection by using USB ActiveSync, the connection thread tries to access an array element that is out-of-bounds, and an Access Violation exception occurs.

Prerequisites

This update is supported only if all previously issued updates for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you apply this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To do this, use one of the following methods:

  • On the Build menu, click Clean Solution, and then click Build Solution.
  • On the Build menu, click Rebuild Solution.

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.
