FIX: Error while retrieving metadata for IDOC/RFC/tRFC/BAPI operations when SAP system uses non-Unicode encoding and the connection type is NCo in BizTalk Server

Symptoms

When you connect to a non-Unicode SAP system in Microsoft Visual Studio by using the .NET Connector (NCo) in Microsoft BizTalk Server (as described in Connecting to the SAP System in Visual Studio), retrieving metadata for IDOC/RFC/tRFC/BAPI operations causes errors that resemble the following:

Adapter Message: An error occurred when trying to convert byte array: [/BEV1/NEMAT                   /BEV1/NEMATMAS05                                            701 ] of RFCTYPE: RFCTYPE_CHAR with length: 4 and decimals: 0 to a .Net type. The parameter/field name is: RELEASED.

Error occurred while browsing the LOB system. Adapter Message: Error in deserializing body of reply message for operation 'Browse'.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in the following cumulative updates for BizTalk Server:

       Cumulative Update 2 for BizTalk Server 2016

       Cumulative Update 5 for BizTalk Adapter Pack 2013

       Cumulative Update 6 for BizTalk Server 2013 R2
